Welcome to the Cobtree Scottish Dancing Group Website.
Scottish Country Dancing is fun and combines both physical and mental exercise. You don’t need a partner, special clothing or equipment to get started, just soft shoes.
We meet on Wednesday evening from 7.45 until 10 pm throughout the year at Grove Green Community Hall.
Meetings with workshop sessions start at 7.30 pm.
Weekly Meetings
Our weekly programme of dances is devised by our team of m/cs.
Elaine Lloyd, a RSCDS teacher, is one of our m/cs and runs a technique workshop at the beginning of the evening when she is m/c.
Visitors are always welcome at our club nights.
We try to make the evening interesting with dances ranging from old favourites to some new or less familiar dances.
We would welcome suggestions for dances to include in our programmes to give them more pizzazz or just because you like the dance.

Dances
2025
Sandy's celebration dance will be on Saturday 22nd November.
Our Christmas Party/Dance for members and invited guests is on Wednesday 17th December.
2026
In 2026 our No Haggis Dance will be on the afternoon of 14th February.
The summer dance 2026 will be on Saturday 20th June we will be dancing to music provided by Ian Muir of Prestwick.
2027
In 2027 our No Haggis Dance will be on the afternoon of 14th February.
The summer dance will be on Saturday 22nd May we will be dancing to music provided by Chris and July Dewhurst.

Sad News
Two of the most active members of Cobtree Scottish Country Dancing Group over the last 40 years have died recently.
John Day died on the 17th September 2025 at the end of a long and active life.
Dick Barford died on the 28th September 2025 after a period of rapidly declining health.
Tributes to these two men who both made an immense contribution to the success of our club are on the About Us page.
AGM
The 2026 AGM will be held on a Wednesday at the end of April or the beginning of May at 7.45pm.
After the meeting there will be dancing until 10pm as usual.

Weekly Subs
The weekly subscription is £4 (2025-26)
Alternatively members may pay £100 for the whole year including annual membership.
This may be paid in 2 instalment. (2025-26)
Members and Guests who attend regularly are asked to pay by Bank Transfer or Cheque.
The amount they owe will notified by invoice at the end of each quarter or half year.
Arrangements can be made for those who wish to pay more regularly or in cash.
Visitors will continue to pay in cash on the night.
If it is your first visit or you are unable to dance the evening is free.
Annual Membership 2025-26
The Annual Membership subscription should be paid by the end of December.
The rate for 2025-26 year is £4.
